Belle recommends reserving a room early during busy travel seasons!
Belle is one of our clinic mascots. We can learn a lot
from animals like Belle. She was found on the road after being hit by a car not
long after her birth. Both of her rear legs had multiple fractures and were so
swollen the veterinarians simply gave her medication for shock and pain and
placed her in strict cage confinement. X-rays were taken under anesthesia. No
way would these fractures heal! A decision was made to put Belle to sleep as she
would never heal well enough to become a happy, playful kitty. Fortunately, no
one told Belle this grim prognosis. Every time she was picked up to be put to
sleep she would purr and play and meow...obviously happy to see us. This would
go on day after day. The veterinary assistants continued to give her the
excellent nursing care she required and, amazingly, she soon was able to stand!
A few weeks later, she was walking. Belle's recovery reminds us of something
often heard, yet often forgotten -- attitude toward adversity makes the
difference in overcoming seemingly impossible odds.
